The main aim of APSSDC-Siemens project is to train large number of unemployed youth for employability and to create industry relevant technically skilled workforce. It follows a hub and spoke model. The more expensive state-of-art laboratories have been kept in the hub i.e. centre of excellence (CoE), which will also function as centre of higher learning and research while the commonly required trade labs have been spread into spokes. Each cluster (one CoE + five t-SDIs) will have an annual capacity to train 20,000. Thus the total capacity of the project is 1,20,000 per annum from all the centres. This is a collaborative project with Siemens with a share of 10% by Government and 90% by Siemens. .
Govt. have permitted 40 centres in the state, out of which six are Centres of Excellence(CoE) while 34 are technical Skill Development Institutions(t-SDIs). All the 40 centres started imparting training to the students.
